Started Motorsport in 1965, thanks to elder brother Bob.
Entered the East African Safari Classic Rally in 2007 and 2011 in my Z, 9th overall.
First rally was with my motorbike racing friend, Jaswinder Shandy in his ex Eric Carlsson group 5 850cc two stroke SAAB 96.
In the 1967 Coca-Cola Rally which was closed to first seed drivers, like Joginder, Vic Preston, Peter Huth etc. to give the younger drivers a go, we won the rally and then we got penalised for speeding into Nairobi at the finish, dropping us to 6th! My Fault!
In 1980’s I navigated for Nigel Arensen and then for Basil Criticos, winning the Firestone Rally and the Coast Rally and a 10th overall, we came 1st in class in the 1984 Safari in the Audi 80 Quattro.
In 1987, my brother Steve and I finished the Safari 20th overall and 2nd in a gutless, floppy Range Rover but was good fun.
In the 90s, I won the Safari Rally SUV 4 x 4 class 3 times and second once in my LR Disco and Toyota LC VX, putting up some ten times, including the WRC cars times.
In 21st Century, I've done 3 new type, short Safaris, a few local rallies including, in my Datsun 240Z, 7th out of 55 mainly 4WDs in the muddy Eldama Ravine Rally. My last rally was the ARC York Rally in South Africa, 2018, a sedate 15th overall, 3rd in class, in the Z, but good fun.
In all including the short KNRC Safaris and the 2007 Classic, I’ve done 19 Safaris, finishing 12.
